WORD! is the longest running poetry and spoken word night in the Midlands.

Based at The Y Theatre, Leicester, it takes place on the first Tuesday of every month, between 8.00 and 10.30pm. The evening is composed of an open mic, followed by a booked act.

Celebrate 'Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival' with this strange and beautiful beast of a band. 'Mik Artistik's Ego Trip' are a cathartic blend of rock and roll stand up, improvisation and poetry. With a following that includes Jonny Vegas, John Cooper Clarke, The Kaiser Chiefs and Vivienne Westwood (to name a few!) seeing is believing. 'Mik Artistik's Ego Trip' have played with Faust and Chumbawamba, featured on BBC Radio 1 and taken Latitude, Glastonbury and numerous other festivals by storm. Don't miss the unique opportunity to see them in Leicester, and remember the night for a long time after.

A WORD! about BBC Radio Leicester...

BBC Radio Leicester will be kicking off a special night of Dave's Leicester's Comedy Festival coverage by dropping into WORD!, at approximately 7.30pm on the 7th. They're keen to talk to audience members, and also record poems - particularly about the festival or Leicester's Big Eat campaign... funny poems about funny things... funny poems about funny food...!?
